THE GREAT STORM

'HURRICANES HARDLY HAPPEN'

presented by Bob Ogley

On the night of Friday October 16th 1987 the South East of England was hit by a ferocious storm, a hurricane which changed the landscape for ever.

Presenter, Bob Ogley, former editor of the Sevenoaks Chronicle, recalls his memories of that night and his incredible journey on foot from Toys Hill to Sevenoaks the next day. Illustrated with contemporary film and video of the most devastated scenes, he describes his experiences and the massive clear-up operation that continued for the following weeks and months.

The video captures images of the destruction in Edenbridge, Sevenoaks and Toys Hill - the buildings damaged, the cars crushed and the million trees that fell in a matter of hours
