WROTHAM - A Place in English History

Owing much to its position close to the Pilgrims' Way, Wrotham developed as a resting place for pilgrims travelling to Canterbury. But even this peaceful retreat did not escape the turbulent times of the Tudors and Stuarts, witnessing rebellion, religious persecution and civil war.

Featuring the outstanding architecture of Wrotham Palace, Wrotham Place, Yaldham Manor and Ford Place, this dramatic video tells the stories of the dynastic families that lived there and the disastrous events that shaped their lives. As the story unfolds the villagers too are not forgotten - from intriguing church records to the village school in the 19th century, and the many shops that lined the High Street, this absorbing video brings the viewer from the earliest written record in 788 AD to the present day.
